What is Paintball?
Paintball is a sport, sometimes considered an extreme sport where people are wearing masks, split up into teams, and armed with a paintball marker that shoots paintballs. The object of the game is to shoot paintballs at the opposite team with the purpose of getting them 'out' and advancing your team to the win. Skill is not always nessesary to have fun playing paintball.

Will being shot by a paintball hurt?
Admittedly paintballs do hurt a bit, but the pain does go away pretty quickly and it will leave a perfectly round bruise that will go away after a few days. A paintball being shot from far away will generally hurt less than a paintball that is shot from a closer distance. A comparable feeling is like getting snapped really good with a towel.

Can I bring my own paintballs to the field?
Absolutly not, please do not bring other brands of paintballs to our field. M&B Paintball has X.O. Industries paintballs available at the field for purchase at all times during any regular play day or event. We, like most other fields have a policy that requires its players to purchase their paintballs from M&B Paintball. If you have leftover paintballs at the end of the day, store them in a sealed container or bag for when you come out the next time.

What is the field standard for velocity (fps) of paintballs?
M&B Paintball sets all it's rentals to the field standard velocity of 280 fps or lower and expects all gun owners to abide by that standard by using a radar chronograph. Gun owners should bring their own tools to adjust velocity if need be.

What is the minimum age to play paintball at the field?
The minimum age to play at the field is 12. This is required by insurance and there are absolutly no exceptions. Participants under the age of 18, must have a guardian sign the waiver as well.

Is paintball safe?
Paintball is a fun and safe game; in fact, statisticly the safest extreme sport around today. M&B Paintball has yet to see a paintball injury since opening in 1998 and one of the reasons is that we always stress safety and promote responsible paintball gun ownership. A few ways to keep paintball safe for you and other people are listed below.
  • Always safety guns and use barrel cover only (barrel plugs can become a projectile, barrel covers available at field and store)
  • Ask someone “to give” if you are close instead of shooting (within ten feet).
  • Always make yourself heard with hand in air when you are hit by a paintball.
  • Go to the “dead zone” when you are hit so as not to be in someone’s way or cause confusion.
  • Know how to properly operate the paintball gun you are using.
  • Do not under any circumstances take your mask off until the game is over, if you have been previously warned for removing your mask too early you may be asked to leave the game and go to the parking lot to think about how important your eyesite is.
  • Why do waivers have to be signed if paintball is so safe?
As refs, our job is to protect your safety as best we possibly can using masks, safety instruction and supervision. We need waivers to protect us in case someone does not play safe and something happens beyond our control. We have never had anything happen, and we plan to keep it that way.

What do you provide at M&B Paintball?
When rental equipment is handed out you will recieve paintballs, a paintball marker set up with HPA tank, 2 pod buttpack and mask. Gun owners will provide all of their own equipment. Other then that, our field location provides:
  • Quality equipment, CO2 or HPA fills, proper safety instruction and responsible supervision.

  • What to bring for a day of Paintball?
Obviously we can't provide everything so don't forget some key items listed below. Paintballs are washable/biodegradable but the field is outdoors and you are likely to get dirty.
  • Sunscreen, hat, insect repellent, old comforatable clothes, running shoes or boots, depending on weather (sandals not recommended).
  • Cash, cold drinks and food (alcoholic beverages are not permitted).
  • Batteries and tools, for those who have their own equipment
  • Cell Phones may or may not work, so please arrange your ride prior to play, no North Bay Transit beyond the Airport.
  • Can I pay with Debit/Credit or should I bring cash to the field?
Please bring cash only to the field, we have no power to take anything else.

What time does the field open and close?
The entry gate is opened at 9am for Sunday Regular Play and Holiday Free Rentals and we like to finish up by 4pm. During July and August we will be having Free Rentals on Wednesdays starting from 11am and closing around 4pm. Usually we start playing around an hour after we open, this allows people time to arrive and get their equipment ready. Please show up before noon to get equipment and so you can get in a good day of paintball. When people arrange a group booking they will decide what day they want, as well as choose their start and end times.

How long do paintball games usually last?
Much of this depends on the people that are playing and on which field the game is being played. Typically games will last anywhere from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. Games are not intended to be long because at M&B Paintball we don’t want your day to be spent waiting for the next game to start.

    What scenarios can be played?
The most common scenario played on all fields is elimination where the goal is to simply shoot the other team until the other team is eliminated. Another popular scenario game is capture the flag where the game doesn’t end until one team has the captured flag and brought the flag to the correct place. We also can do what we call continuous games, where when the player gets hit, the have to run back to the tag in spot and start again. Many other scenarios can be created and played with only a moment’s notice. We also have a birthday game scenario that is quite popular...

What do you do when you are shot?
The first thing you want to do is yell loudly 'out', 'hit' or 'gone'. Then after someone has stopped shooting at you, raise your gun and/or hand in the air, to indicate you are hit, and quickly walk off the field to the 'dead zone'. You may get shot after you are hit depending on other lines of flying paintballs, if you get shot an extra time, please don't take it personally, it was likely an accident.

How do you know when you are 'out'?
Many people have questions on what exactly is called a “hit”, so we are going to clear that up for you right here. No mater what always check with your hand or another close player to see if the paintball broke; this matters.
  • If the paintball breaks on any part of your body or your equipment then you are “hit” or “out”.
  • If the paintball hits you but does not break then you may stay and play.
  • If you call yourself “hit” or “out” and the paintball didn’t break then you are out of the game because it was called.
  • Cheating or wiping is unacceptable at M&B Paintball, when you are caught doing this you and another player on your team is pulled out of that game.
  • Does weather affect whether or not the field will be open?
We do play in light rain, drizzle or light snow, however during heavy downpours, thunderstorms or winter weather we reserve the right to close the field, due to what we consider to be unsafe playing conditions. If you start playing and we have to close the field you may get a 'raincheck'.

When does the paintball season start and end?
The paintball season usually begins in late April and generally lasts until mid November. If the field is closed, it will say so on the our main page and field page. You can always just call us to confirm, especially when it comes to the end of the season.

How are games regulated in terms of skill or groups?
Group bookings will always be seperate from other groups unless they invite other players to join their private booking. 'Newbies' and experienced players are generally seperated because the experienced players are more aggressive. Less experienced players may join the experienced players, however the experienced players cannot join a group of less experienced players.

Does M&B Paintball do repairs and modifications?
M&B Paintball does repairs on most guns, tanks and equipment. Quotes are not set in stone as it depends on the problems that you are having. Problematic equipment must be brought to the field for service, please do not expect us to repair your equipment at the field, we likely do not have the correct tools or time. Please tell us the exact problem (if you know it) and also tell us what you have done so far to correct the problem. We will correct the problem, call you and tell you when you may pick your equipment up at the field.

What is the difference between speedball and rec and play?
Rec play is for your average person who wants to go out, have a good time and shoot each other. The games are a lot more relaxed, played on any field, more geared towards fun and less serious. Speedball is generally more aggressive because the games are played on smaller fields in only a few minutes and the goal is to win. Experienced players use 'tourney' moves such as 'bunkering' (running up and shooting someone), or 'throwing paint' (shooting 15 balls per second at someone) or using fancy firing modes in their guns. These things are not allowed during rec play. Please play with others of similar skill level so that no one gets something they are not expecting.
